Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer | Regional Technical Leader to provide both technical and organizational leadership within our Power and Energy practice. The role combines advanced expertise in protection and control with responsibility for growing a team of engineers.

The successful candidate will serve as a technical authority for protection and control systems, lead complex projects, mentor staff, and support business growth and resource planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Minimum 15 years of related experience in power engineering.
• Willingness to travel 10% or less; domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, delivery, and technical execution of high-voltage substation protection and control projects.
• Serve as technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA integration, automation, and communications.
• Develop and approve protection and control engineering deliverables (schematics, wiring, relay settings, layouts).
• Lead power system studies, protection coordination, equipment selection and related analyses.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements, standards, and CDM Smith procedures.
• Mentor engineers, supervise staff, and drive project performance and quality.
