Job summary
CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to serve as Regional Technical Leader within our Power and Energy practice. You will lead design, delivery, and technical execution of high‑voltage protection projects and act as the authority for relay settings, SCADA integration, and related systems.
You will mentor engineers, oversee performance and resource planning, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success, quality, safety, and client
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering; PE license; 15 years related experience (or equivalent)
- Willingness to travel domestically to support regional projects
Responsibilities
- Lead design, delivery, and technical execution of high‑voltage substation protection and control projects
- Serve as technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA integration, automation, and substation communications
- Develop, review, and approve protection and control deliverables (schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings, panel layouts)
- Lead power system studies, protection coordination, equipment selection, and related engineering analyses
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support successful project delivery, commissioning, testing, and startup activities
- Drive quality reviews, engineering standards development, and continuous improvement initiatives
