Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group (QISG) is seeking a Senior Estimator with deep substation experience to lead the development of self-perform construction estimates for substation projects across the full voltage range — distribution class through EHV, including work supporting 500 kV and 765 kV transmission programs.

This role owns the estimate from document review through bid-day submission, coordinating with leadership to win profitable work.

Qualifications

8+ years estimating experience in substation, switchyard, or high-voltage electrical construction.
Self-perform contractor or EPC experience.
Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, three-lines, and civil/structural design packages.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent field experience.
AACE certification (CEP or CCP) or DBIA credential.
Experience estimating under alliance, unit-price, and target-price models in addition to lump sum.

Responsibilities

Lead complete substation estimates for greenfield stations, expansions, retrofits and restoration.
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from diagrams and designs; develop estimates from incomplete bid designs.
Build craft labor, equipment, and crew-based production rates; document means-and-methods in the estimate basis.
Solicit, level, and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing; manage major equipment scope.
Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings; reflect site constraints in the estimate.
Develop and maintain the estimate risk register; support pricing strategy.
Present the estimate at internal bid reviews and defend the technical build-up; support client clarifications.
Lead estimate turnover to the project team; capture feedback for cost database and rate library.
Mentor estimators on takeoffs, pricing, and documentation standards.
