Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group (QISG) is seeking a Senior Estimator with deep substation experience to lead self-perform construction estimates for substation projects across the full voltage range, including work supporting 500 kV and 765 kV transmission programs.

This role owns the estimate from document review through bid-day submission: quantities, production rates, means and methods, pricing, and the estimate basis that stands behind the number.

Qualifications

• 8+ years estimating experience in substation, switchyard, or HV construction.
• Ability to read one-lines, three-lines, and design packages for estimation.
• Experience leading estimates on projects of $20M or greater.
• Proficiency with estimating platforms and advanced Excel.
• Willingness to travel ~25% for site visits and bid reviews.

Responsibilities

• Lead complete substation estimates for new, expansions, retrofits, and restoration.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from diagrams and schedules.
• Develop production rates and means-and-methods with operations.
• Coordinate subcontractor and vendor pricing; manage major equipment scope.
• Attend site visits, assess conditions, and reflect constraints in the estimate.
• Maintain the estimate risk register and support pricing strategy.
• Present and defend the estimate in internal bid reviews.
• Turnover estimate to project team and capture feedback for cost databases.
• Mentor estimators on takeoff, pricing discipline, and documentation.
