Job summary

HDR is seeking a Substation EPC Program Lead to drive technical delivery, coordination and execution across large infrastructure programs. You will lead a multidisciplinary HDR team and coordinate with clients, EPC contractors and utilities to ensure design intent, scheduling and budget alignment.

The ideal candidate holds a PE license or equivalent, 10+ years of related experience, 5+ years in project management, and deep knowledge of high-voltage substations (69kV–500kV+).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field required.
• 10 years related experience required.
• Minimum 5 years of project management experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, and project management software.

Responsibilities

• Lead the substation scope within large EPC infrastructure programs, focusing on technical delivery, coordination and execution with contractor partners.
• Advise clients on technical, regulatory, and execution aspects of substation development, including site development, design, permitting, and equipment strategy.
• Plan, direct and monitor all aspects of substation scope execution in partnership with the EPC contractor responsible for construction.
• Coordinate outage planning, energization, commissioning support, and system integration activities.
• Serve as the primary substation interface among owner, engineering teams and contractor to ensure alignment on design intent and execution strategy.
• Engage with clients, utilities, agencies, and stakeholders to support permitting, approvals, and issue resolution.
• Mentor and develop staff working on substation projects and programs.
• Travel to project sites as required.
