Job summary

HDR is seeking a Substation EPC Program Lead to drive the technical delivery and execution of the substation scope within large, multidisciplinary EPC infrastructure programs. You’ll coordinate with contractor partners and HDR staff to ensure design intent and constructability align with program goals.

In this role you’ll advise clients on substation development, site development, permitting, protection and control integration, outages, and equipment strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field.
• 10 years related experience.
• Minimum 5 years of project management experience.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to interact with various design teams.
• Active participation in employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead substation scope within large EPC programs, focusing on technical delivery, coordination, and execution with contractor partners.
• Advise clients on technical, regulatory, and execution aspects of substation development, including design, permitting, and outages.
• Plan, direct, and monitor all substation scope execution with the EPC contractor, including site layout, electrical design, environmental planning, permitting, and equipment strategy.
• Coordinate outage coordination, energization, commissioning support, and constructability alignment among stakeholders.
• Oversee design and construction activities, ensuring QA/QC and contract conformance.
• Direct and coordinate HDR staff and subconsultants; manage scope, schedule, and budget performance.
• Engage with clients, utilities, agencies, and stakeholders to support approvals and risk resolution.
