Job summary

HDR is seeking a Substation Engineering Manager in a full-time, on-site role within the Power Delivery group in the United States. You will lead project teams, guide technical execution, and coordinate with leadership to ensure high-quality, on-budget outcomes.

You will mentor engineers, develop execution plans, and participate in professional development initiatives. A PE license and strong leadership are essential for success in HDR's employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 7 years related experience.
• Minimum 2 years project management experience.
• MS Office and MS Project experience is required.
• Demonstrated leadership skills; active in employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Develops a partnership with Project Managers; PMs handle scope/schedules/budgets; EM executes technically.
• Work with technical leadership to develop processes for quality control, technical expertise, and project delivery.
• Collaborate with local and national Power Delivery leaders to mentor staff and develop plans.
• Develop and implement a project execution plan for technical aspects of projects.
• Assign tasks and provide technical guidance to project teams.
• Support scope/schedule/budget with proposal development, WBS, progress assessment, risk mitigation, and change management.
• Coordinate quality checks per HDR QMS and review projects across teams as needed.
• Lead and mentor Project Engineers, EITs, or CAD/Designers; manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Work with senior engineers to develop technical expertise; attend trainings and seminars.
• Assist with developing technical papers/presentations for industry events.
