Job summary

Dashiell, a leading provider of electrical infrastructure services, seeks a Substation Engineer to lead engineering teams in Portland, ME. You will manage scope, schedule, and budget across multiple substation projects, ensuring safety, quality, and timely delivery.

The role requires a PE license and 15+ years in the electrical power industry, with deep knowledge of 138 kV+ substations and NEC/NESC/IEEE/ANSI standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE); able to obtain license if in a state other than where practicing.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in the electrical power industry with substation design experience.
• Experience managing a design team including engineers, designers, and drafters.
• Extensive knowledge of 138 kV+ substations and related components.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to lead in a team environment and align goals.
• Willingness to travel for project locations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee profitability, quality, and schedule performance of engineering teams on multiple substation projects.
• Supervise project teams to ensure on-time completion and adherence to budgets.
• Assign projects to engineering teams based on requirements and personnel availability.
• Coordinate engineering with construction and procurement to meet milestones.
• Ensure use of project standards and efficient design progress.
• Communicate project activities with customers, teams, and management.
• Prepare schedules and budgets; keep projects on track and within budget.
• Apply engineering software for ground grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing, short circuit and load flow studies.
• Perform project engineering and design tasks as needed for schedules.
• Apply NEC/NESC/IEEE/ANSI standards across designs.
• Maintain document control and responsible work practices.
• Travel to project sites as required and maintain safety logs.
• Contribute to special projects and general duties as assigned.
