Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Substation Engineer Consultant to manage project teams of engineers, designers, estimators, controls and schedulers in the design and analysis of high voltage substations. The role includes coordinating design phases, maintaining quality, and managing client communications.

Applicants should have 10+ years in HV project design/management, familiarity with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEC, IEEE, ANSI, and experience with EPC/Owners Engineer contracts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Engineering degree required.
• Experience in Project Management of Utility Transmission, Substation or Energy Projects.
• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEC, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• 10+ years in design engineering and/or management of high voltage utility projects.
• Experience with EPC/Owners Engineer/Traditional or Joint Ventures contracts is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication; capable of writing proposals.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-disciplinary teams including engineers, designers, estimators, controls and scheduling professionals.
• Direct the team lead in coordinating detailed design phases for electrical engineering work.
• Coordinate and manage work by civil, structural, and transmission teams.
• Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget with high quality.
• Identify out-of-scope work and coordinate with the client for approvals.
• Ensure systems design meets specifications, codes and client requirements.
• Collaborate with staff locally and nationwide; prepare clear reports and studies.
• Review calculations, drawings, reports, materials, and procurement specs.
• Communicate with clients for project and account support; assist in business development.
