Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Substation Engineer to lead the design deliverables for new and modified high-voltage substations (13kV–765kV). You will guide the project team through design and construction, adapting plans to budget constraints, design factors, and client needs.

You will lead from concept through completion, develop substation design packages (physical arrangement, relaying, grounding, wiring, lighting, security), perform calculations, prepare sketches, cost estimates,

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program with 7 years of substation project experience, or FE with 7 years of substation experience.
PE license preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

Leads substation projects from the conceptual phase through completion.
Leads development of substation design packages (arrangement, relaying, grounding, lighting, security).
Leads the development of substation calculations (insulation, station service, DC systems, voltage drop).
Prepares design sketches, cost estimates, equipment specs, BOMs, and other deliverables.
Applies IEEE, NESC, and other industry standards.
