Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in the United States is seeking a Senior Substation Engineer to lead design deliverables for high-voltage substations (13kV–765kV) through design and construction, balancing budget and client needs.

You will guide the team from concept to completion, develop design packages, perform calculations, and ensure compliance with IEEE/NESC standards and QA/QC guidelines while fostering client relationships and proposals.

Qualifications

• ABET accredited degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 7 years of substation experience.
• PE license strongly preferred.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead substation design packages from conceptual to completion.
• Develop design calculations, equipment specs, BOMs, and field inspections.
• Adhere to IEEE, NESC standards and QA/QC guidelines.
• Manage project schedule and budget under supervision.
• Prepare proposals with schedules and budgets.
