Toth and Associates, Inc. seeks a Substation Engineer III/IV to plan, design, and execute electrical substation projects for utility, industrial, and renewable clients.

The role requires leading design efforts, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating with project teams to deliver code-compliant, constructible solutions. Ideal candidates will have a 4-year degree in electrical engineering and 5–9 years of experience, with proficiency in relevant standards and software tools.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 5–9 years of electrical substation engineering or related power systems design experience.
• Demonstrated ability to independently execute substation design tasks with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical judgment skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and independently design physical substation components (yard layouts, grounding, protection).
• Develop and review protection & control schematics, wiring diagrams, schedules, and panel layouts.
• Prepare and review drawings, calculations, and BOMs for planning, construction, ops, and maintenance.
• Perform engineering calculations (grounding, voltage drop, fault current) and related studies.
• Ensure designs comply with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
• Provide technical direction and mentoring to Engineer I/II staff and designers.
