Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer - Substation (Part Time) to lead and coordinate substation design efforts across multiple projects. The role offers flexible, hybrid work arrangements and relocation eligibility, with a strong emphasis on mentorship and delivering high-quality engineering packages.

You will develop protection and control designs, yard layouts, grounding, and auxiliary power systems, while coordinating with clients, vendors, and project teams to meet budgets

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
• Minimum of 11 years related work experience.
• Pre-employment onboarding requirements may include background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search.

Responsibilities

• Provide project coordination and guidance on assigned substation projects.
• Develop protection and control design deliverables including relays and diagrams.
• Create physical design deliverables such as yard layouts and grounding schemes.
• Oversee quality review of electrical substation design packages.
• Mentor junior team members and manage multiple disciplines.
• Prepare electrical equipment specifications and BOMs for procurement.
• Coordinate with clients, vendors, and subcontractors on project activities.
• Present proposals and designs to stakeholders.
• Travel to client/vendor offices or project sites for reviews and verification.
• Prepare and manage design budgets and schedules; support BD pursuits.
