Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead substation projects, coordinating design efforts across disciplines and guiding protection and control workflows. The role involves working on substations up to 765kV and interacting with clients and vendors.

You’ll contribute to technical design, performance calculations and field coordination, while mentoring junior staff and supporting business development. Flexible hybrid work options are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required.
• Professional licensure is preferred.
• Strong understanding of substation protection and control.

Responsibilities

• Function as a Technical Specialist or Project Lead, providing project coordination, guidance and expertise on assigned substation projects.
• Support substation projects up to 765kV in engineering, EPC delivery.
• Develop protection and control design deliverables including relays, diagrams, and wiring.
• Develop physical design deliverables including yard layout, grounding, and power systems.
• Prepare calculations and reports for engineering studies (AC/DC load, grounding, lightning).
• Coordinate design activities with other disciplines and stakeholders.
• Provide mentorship to less experienced team members and lead design reviews.
