Job summary

DEPCOM Power seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer (Substations) to lead physical substation design for utility-scale solar and energy storage projects. You will develop layout drawings, bus design, grounding, lightning protection, and related studies, delivering complete design packages from concept to IFC.

Travel up to 15% for site visits and FATs; collaborate with civil, protection & controls, and SCADA teams, and ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, IEEE.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Willingness to travel up to 15% for site visits, design reviews, or FATs.
• Experience in Power Infrastructure Design is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop physical layout drawings for high-voltage substations (plan/elevation/section).
• Develop design criteria and specs for structures, foundations, bus, and cabling.
• Perform calculations: ampacity, ground grid sizing, lightning protection, insulation coordination, and transient studies.
• Assist in protection schemes: one-line/three-line diagrams, relays programming, and interlocking.
• Coordinate with civil, protection & controls, and SCADA teams; produce IFC packages.
