Job summary

I & S Group, Inc. seeks a Senior Physical Substation Engineer to lead HV substation physical design, including layouts, grounding, and equipment placement. You will collaborate with utilities and clients to ensure safety, reliability, and constructability while reviewing complex deliverables.

Mentor junior staff, manage design milestones, and maintain compliance with IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and NFPA standards. Travel to project sites and client meetings will be required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in substation physical design.
• PE license required.
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (power focus) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review complete physical design packages for high-voltage substations, including diagrams, GA drawings, bus work layouts, grounding layouts, and cable routing.
• Ensure compliance with IEEE/ANSI/NESC/NEC/NFPA/OSHA standards.
• Lead design coordination meetings with clients, utilities, vendors, and internal teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers with feedback on deliverables.
• Forecast design hours and manage deliverables to meet schedules.
