Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Substation Physical Designer in the Richmond, VA area to join a project team of engineers and designers. You will prepare Substation General Arrangement drawings, Electrical Equipment Plans, Section Views, BOM, Shielding and Grounding Plans.

This role blends office and field duties within a hybrid work schedule. The position requires robust substation design experience, proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation, and the ability to visualize 3D parts without CAD aids.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of substation physical design experience.
• Associate’s Degree in Drafting, or high school diploma with 2+ years drafting coursework or equivalent.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of the computer.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Substation General Arrangement drawings.
• Prepare Substation Electrical Equipment Plans and Section Views.
• Prepare Substation Detailed BOM, Shielding, Grounding and other related plans and details.
