Job summary

Actalent is seeking a mid-level Substation Project Engineer to deliver detailed substation design for utility-scale wind, solar, and BESS projects across the United States. You will produce design packages, perform calculations, and mentor junior engineers in a hybrid in-office role centered in Bellevue, WA.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, support technical studies, and contribute to project delivery while traveling about 10% for site visits and client meetings.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of direct substation engineering experience; physical design, protection and control focused.
• PE license in a relevant jurisdiction.
• Experience producing calculations, design deliverables and technical documentation in active projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver complete substation design packages for utility-scale renewables.
• Perform detailed engineering calculations to support physical design and protection schemes.
• Produce high-quality design deliverables and technical documentation in a project-delivery environment.
• Coordinate with civil, structural and electrical engineers for integrated designs.
• Support technical studies related to substation performance and integration with renewables.
• Assist with construction-phase engineering and respond to field questions.
• Mentor junior engineers and review their work to support technical development.
• Collaborate with project managers to meet schedules, budget, and quality standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of substation processes, standards, and tools.
• Explain design intent in meetings and support decision-making.
• Travel ~10% for site visits and project activities.
