Job summary
Ulteig is seeking qualified candidates for the Substation Design Engineer role to support Renewables/Utility/Power projects. You will develop and review substation drawings and related plans to ensure completeness and compliance with standards.
Responsibilities include detailed design work, design calculations, and coordination with project teams. Travel up to 15% and permanent US work authorization are required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required; ABET accreditation preferred.
- Passed the EIT exam is preferred.
- At least 2 years of engineering experience required.
- Experience with physical design or protection and control design of electrical power substations is required.
- Ability to review and produce design drawings (GA, Elevations, Cable/Conduit, Grounding Plans, etc.).
- Ability to perform AC & DC substation studies.
- Knowledge of NEC/NESC/RUS design guides is a plus.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Openness to innovation and AI tools to enhance workflows.
- Up to 15% travel; valid driver's license preferred.
- Must have permanent authorization to work in the US.
Responsibilities
- Be technically involved in detailed design work and calculations.
- Select and implement protective relay & automation equipment.
- Resolve design problems, including field investigations or observations.
- Coordinate design aspects of a project with the team.
