Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Lead Substation Engineer to design substations compliant with applicable codes and client standards. The role covers general arrangement, equipment layout, grounding, and power systems, with QA/QC oversight.

The candidate will prepare specifications, perform critical calculations, and contribute to project planning and cost estimates. This position may be located in several Florida or US locations as listed, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is required.
• 6+ years of substation physical design experience.
• PE license is required.
• Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and document management.
• Attention to detail and the ability to multitask across projects.

Responsibilities

• Design substations per codes and client standards, including layouts and BOMs.
• Create grounding, lightning protection, and cable/conduit plans.
• Perform load, bus span, and ampacity calculations.
• Develop equipment specifications and cost estimates.
• Prepare design documentation for procurement, construction, and operations.
