Job summary

Serco Inc. is seeking a Principal Naval Architect to support the Navy’s VIRGINIA Class Submarine program from PMS450 and NAVSEA with the SIT Team.

This role entails leading design, stability, weight, and hydrostatics analyses, and coordinating across PMS450, shipyards, and contractors to ensure safe, capable submarines. The ideal candidate will possess an active DoW Secret clearance, a strong naval architecture background, and proven project management and communication skills to drive complex

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture or closely related field required.
• Minimum 8+ years of professional experience in marine/naval architecture preferred.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with ability to coordinate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize submarines including hull form, stability, weight, and performance under marine conditions.
• Lead weight and hydrostatics analyses, inclining experiments, and design reviews with naval stakeholders.
• Coordinate with PMS450, NAVSEA, shipyards, and contractors to ensure design compliance and timely execution.
• Provide technical guidance on ship systems manuals, test procedures, and maintenance documentation.
• Present engineering issues to program management and customer representatives.
