Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in the Greater Seattle Area seeks a Structures Design Engineer III to advance MMOD and secondary structures for the MK2 Crew Lander within the Lunar Permanence program. You will perform design, analysis, testing, and integration across a cross-functional team to deliver robust aerospace hardware.

The role emphasizes hands-on structural design, weight-aware trade studies, and collaboration with materials and manufacturing teams to ensure flight-ready components.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering.
• 8+ years of experience with automotive, aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures.
• Experience on recently developed aircraft or launch vehicles in one or more of the following areas: structural design of metallic components and assemblies; vehicle load path distribution and first-order strength assessment.
• Strong mechanical design and integration skills using 3D CAD software.
• Familiar with GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5).
• Ability to rapidly apply structural principles and perform hand calculations as needed.
• Understanding of material and design considerations in cryogenic environments.
• Experience with Creo or Windchill 10 and analysis codes listed.

Responsibilities

• Design, analysis, development, and testing of secondary structures and assemblies.
• Create 3D models, drawings, assemblies, and interface control documents.
• Provide manufacturing support for hardware.
• Provide technical guidance for integration.
• Support configuration development and trade studies.
• Apply practical fabrication and cost-impact guidance.
• Create test plans and specs for flight hardware.
• Collaborate with teams on materials and manufacturing for aerospace hardware.
• Participate in subsystem test planning and data analysis.
• Plan and conduct tests; review data.
• Develop and procure new equipment and tooling.
• Maintain schedule, budget and status reports.
