Job summary

Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer for NY/NJ/CT/MA offices to lead projects across drinking water, wastewater, and water resources sectors. Responsibilities include design, permitting, project management, and mentoring staff, with travel as needed.

Qualifications include a BS in Civil Engineering with a structural focus, PE license (or 6 months to obtain), and 5–12 years of experience in structural design and construction. A Master's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering with a structural concentration or structural engineering background.
• PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• 5–12 years of related experience in structural design/construction.
• Experience with structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and aluminum; knowledge of ACI, AISC, ASCE.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Project engineering/management, mentoring junior staff, site inspections.
• Design, permitting, and construction tasks for water-related structures.
• Prepare design calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications for environmental structures.
• Support construction activities, respond to RFIs, and conduct site clarifications.
• Provide technical leadership and staff development.
• Collaborate across Northeast and Midwest offices on projects.
