Job summary

Hazen and Sawyer seeks a Principal Structural Engineer to lead projects across the water sector from our Northeast offices. You will oversee planning, design, permitting and construction for drinking water, wastewater and related facilities, while mentoring staff and guiding technical directions.

Candidates should have a Civil Engineering degree with a structural focus, a PE license (or within 6 months), and 5–12 years of related experience in structural design and analysis of diverse materials.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural concentration preferred.
• PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• 5–12 years of related experience.
• Experience in design/construction of structural steel, reinforced concrete, reinforced masonry, and aluminum.
• Knowledge of ACI, AISC, ASCE and structural analysis/design software.
• Must be an effective communicator and work well in a multi-discipline team.

Responsibilities

• Project engineering/management, mentoring and developing junior staff, site inspections.
• Perform assessment, design and construction tasks for water/ wastewater projects.
• Produce design calculations, technical reports, permitting, and detailed plans for environmental structures.
• Participate in construction tasks including submittal reviews, RFIs, site inspections and clarifications.
• Provide technical engineering leadership and staff development.
