Job summary

Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to lead projects across NY, NJ, CT, and MA focusing on water-related infrastructure. The role involves planning, design, permitting, and construction support with opportunities for client development and staff mentoring.

Ideal candidates will have a Civil Engineering degree with a structural concentration, a PE license, and 5–12 years of relevant experience in structural design of steel, concrete, masonry, and aluminum, along with

Qualifications

BS in Civil Engineering (structural concentration preferred).
PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
5–12 years of related experience.
Experience in design and construction of structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and aluminum.
Knowledge of ACI, AISC, ASCE, and structural analysis software.

Responsibilities

Project engineering/management, mentoring and developing junior staff, site inspections and assessments of existing infrastructure.
Perform assessment, design, and construction tasks for water and wastewater treatment projects.
Produce design calculations, technical reports, permitting, detailed design and engineering plans/specifications for environmental structures.
Participate in construction tasks including submittal review, RFIs, and site clarifications during construction.
Provide technical engineering leadership and foster staff development.
