Job summary

Tetra Tech seeks a Senior Structural Engineer, Subject Matter Expert for the Power Division. This role can be performed from anywhere in the United States and focuses on substations, transmission, renewable energy, and other critical infrastructure.

You will provide expert structural engineering, governance, design oversight, and mentorship across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring code compliance and constructability while fostering innovation. Travel may be required for client engagement.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural focus.
20+ years of progressive structural engineering experience, preferably in consulting.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the US and/or Canada.
Extensive experience in utility substations, transmission, wind/solar/hydro projects.
Proficiency with structural analysis software (STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, etc.).
Strong leadership, mentorship, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Serve as technical authority for structural design across Power Division.
Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to multidisciplinary teams.
Review and approve structural deliverables for code compliance and quality.
Lead design of steel, concrete, masonry, and foundations for substations and transmission.
Perform seismic and wind load analyses and foundation design.
Collaborate with electrical, geotechnical, and project management teams.
Support business development with proposals and client engagement.
Participate in technical committees and pursue continuous improvement.
