Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our Power team. This role can be performed remotely from anywhere in the United States and involves leading small project teams, coordinating with multiple disciplines, and delivering structural design outputs for high-voltage and power-related facilities.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of structural engineering experience, a California P.E. license, and strong proficiency with AutoCAD and structural analysis software.

Qualifications

• Requires 5+ years of structural engineering experience, focused on structural steel and foundations for substations and power facilities.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in California (USA) is required.
• Experience with high-voltage transmission structures and 115 kV+ lines preferred.
• Knowledge of heavy industrial structures (steel, concrete, wood, masonry) in power projects desirable.
• Strong computer skills: AutoCAD, STAAD, PLS-CADD, and related design software.

Responsibilities

• Independently complete structural design calculations and prepare markups for drafting.
• Lead project teams to deliver small projects on time.
• Coordinate with discipline leads, PMs, vendors, contractors, and clients.
• Document and track project tasks and design documents.
• Prepare and verify drawings, calculations, and procurement deliverables.
• Support procurement activities and supplier bid evaluations.
• Monitor project schedules and budgets; report status regularly.
