Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a Senior Structural Engineer in Knoxville, TN, to join our Nuclear Power Group. You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, guide junior engineers, and contribute to design calculations, specifications, and drawings for new nuclear facilities and upgrades.

The role emphasizes structural analysis of steel and concrete, adherence to ASCE 7/AISC/ACI codes, and occasional travel to client sites or vendors.

Qualifications

BS degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
Seven or more years of experience in design and analysis of structures as part of a project team.
Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
Proficiency with design codes such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with a team of structural engineers and interface with engineers from other disciplines.
Guide the work of less experienced project team members.
Prepare and review design calculations, develop specifications, and support drawing development.
Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations.
Travel to client/vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification.
