Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior structural engineer for an onsite field support role at the Surry Nuclear Power Plant. You will lead a team of structural engineers, interface with other disciplines, and guide work on projects for nuclear facilities.

The role emphasizes materials, structural analysis, steel and concrete design, and preparation of calculations and drawings. Occasional travel to client and vendor sites may be required for design reviews and field verification.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• Three or more years of experience on a structural design/analysis project team
• Experience with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS
• Experience with design codes/standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI
• Good written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, steel design, and reinforced concrete design
• Prepare and review design calculations, develop specifications, and support designers
• Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and site verification as needed
