Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a structural engineer to join our Nuclear Power Group in Chicago. You will join a team of structural engineers, guide junior members, and work on projects for new nuclear facilities and upgrades to existing plants.

You will apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, steel and concrete design, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver design-ready packages.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Three or more years of experience in design and analysis of structures (steel and concrete).
• Experience with structural analysis software: STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
• Experience with design codes: ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Valued: MSCE degree; experience with power/industrial structures; on-site construction support; PE or SE license.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review design calculations, develop specifications, and support designers with drawings.
• Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team; travel to client/vendor offices or plant sites for reviews and field verification.
