Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Project Lead Structural Engineer in Richmond, VA to guide a team of structural engineers, interface with clients, and manage diverse projects. The role offers a hybrid work schedule and opportunities to work on steel, concrete, and foundation designs with advanced tools.

You will oversee design calculations, mentor staff, and travel to client sites for reviews and field coordination, contributing to safe, cost-effective, and compliant engineering solutions.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BSCE in Structural Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience on project teams designing and analyzing industrial/heavy commercial or nuclear facility structures.
• Proficiency with STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
• Proficiency with ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI design codes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, and design to execute tasks.
• Direct preparation and review of design calculations, specs, reports, and drawings.
• Supervise and mentor engineers to develop quality deliverables.
• Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations.
• Travel to client/vendor offices for design reviews and field verification.
