Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead project teams through conceptual design to construction for various facilities in California. You will mentor engineers, manage budgets and schedules, and ensure QA/QC across CAD platforms.

Qualified candidates have ABET-accredited structural engineering degrees with 7+ years’ experience (EPC preferred); PE license is a plus, and travel is required.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in Structural Engineering.
• 7+ years structural engineering experience; EPC project experience preferred.
• Master’s degree acceptable with 6+ years.
• PE license preferred.
• Strong knowledge of IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE7.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design from conceptual phase through design completion for project needs.
• Prepare structural equipment specifications and data sheets, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
• Review structural vendor drawings; interface with suppliers, clients and other disciplines.
• Develop project schedule, scope, budget, staffing, and construction planning; manage change orders.
• Apply expert knowledge of structural concepts, codes and procedures.
• Quality review production drawings across CAD platforms.
• Quality reviews of construction administration and field coordination.
• Lead field inspections, measurements or calculations for clients.
• Prepare and present technical reports for clients and publications.
• Build relationships with clients and contractors and pursue new opportunities.
• Lead development of cost proposals and qualification statements; prepare budgets.
• Provide leadership to the structural engineering practice; mentor engineers.
• Ensure QA/QC adherence and safety compliance.
