Job summary

RTX in the United States is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to join the Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Department in Tucson, AZ. You will perform detailed structural analyses to support all program phases, generate test plans, and validate hardware against customer requirements.

You will lead technical peer reviews, present results to internal and external stakeholders, and mentor other engineers while travel to test sites as needed. A DoD secret clearance is required or obtainable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience running complex structural analysis with PATRAN, NASTRAN, ANSYS or equivalent.
• Experience with dynamic, static, nonlinear, and transient analyses.
• Ability to lead teams and work effectively in a collaborative environment.
• U.S. citizen or acceptable status to obtain DoD clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed structural analyses to support all program phases.
• Generate test plans to validate analyses and verify hardware against requirements.
• Analyze test data to validate models and derive mechanical loads.
• Lead peer reviews and mentor junior engineers.
• Present results to internal stakeholders and external customers.
• Travel to test sites as needed.
• Develop and maintain archival technical reports.
• Support program planning within cost and schedule constraints.
