Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Subject Matter Expert for the Data Center team to lead structural engineering across a portfolio of data center projects, including new builds and retrofits.

You will mentor staff, coordinate with teams, and communicate with clients and upper management to drive design delivery. The role emphasizes leadership, technical authority, and collaboration in a hybrid, U.S.-based setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
• 15+ years of professional experience in structural engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer with ability to become registered in additional states.
• Knowledge of CAD software (AutoCad, Revit, MicroStation, S3D).
• Proficiency with structural analysis software (RISA, RamSS, STAAD).
• Knowledge of ACI, AISC, ASCE 7 and related design codes and standards.
• Proficiency with MS Office including Teams and ability to travel ~10–40%.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural engineering efforts across data center projects, including new builds and retrofits.
• Guide project execution, shape design strategy, and ensure constructible, code-compliant solutions.
• Speak with clients and management; mentor structural leads and junior staff.
• Provide quality reviews and oversee calculations, modeling standards, and team coordination.
• Oversee material take-offs, scheduling governance, and interdisciplinary coordination.
