Job summary

ACCIONA is seeking a Structural Engineer to support the SR400 Express Lanes Project in Georgia. The role focuses on construction-phase engineering for bridge and structural works in concrete and steel, ensuring safety, buildability, and compliance with project specs.

You will review submittals, prepare calculations, coordinate with designers, drafting, field engineers, and QA staff, and apply AASHTO LRFD, GDOT, ACI and AISC standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering; MSc preferred.
• 5–10 years of experience in structural design and analysis of bridge structures.
• Proficiency with concrete and steel design and related codes and standards.
• Experience with design-build or large-infrastructure projects is an asset.
• Proficient in structural analysis software (SAP2000, CUBUS, Sofistik).
• Ability to produce and review detailed calculations and drawings; strong engineering judgment.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide structural engineering support to the construction team during bridge and structural works.
• Review shop drawings, rebar detailing, precast and structural steel submittals, and construction methods.
• Design and verify temporary works (formwork, falsework, shoring, lifting plans, erection sequences).
• Prepare construction-phase calculations and technical documentation, including load checks and staging analyses.
• Respond to RFIs and field queries; coordinate with designers and drafting team to resolve issues.
• Perform constructability reviews and propose cost-effective solutions.
• Apply codes and standards (AASHTO LRFD, GDOT, ACI, AISC) and ensure compliance.
• Support field engineers, superintendents, and QC staff with technical guidance.
• Coordinate with roadway, geotechnical, drainage, and construction teams; interface design and construction.
• Support the Technical Director with analyses and engineering solutions throughout construction.
