Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a senior subject matter expert in our Data Center team to lead structural engineering across a portfolio of data center projects, including new builds and retrofits. You’ll set technical direction, ensure designs meet performance and constructability standards, and mentor junior staff while coordinating with clients and contractors.

The role is heavily client-facing, travel up to 40%, and involves collaboration across design and build teams.

Qualifications

• Identify complex challenges and guide staff on best practices.
• Experience with large contracts, change orders, and coordination with contractors.
• Speak to executives about subject matter and design decisions.
• Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 15+ years of professional structural engineering experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer with multi-state eligibility.
• Knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, S3D).
• Proficiency with structural analysis software (RISA, RamSS, STAAD).
• Familiar with ACI, AISC, ASCE 7 and related codes.
• MS Office, MS Teams, and cross-team coordination.
• Able to travel 10–40% to client sites.
• Bluebeam workflow experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality reviews of complex projects.
• Lead complex structural analyses and select robust methods.
• Develop and validate advanced structural models and mentor the team.
• Oversee member design calculations and foundations; direct take-offs and estimates.
• Coordinate with design-build delivery and liaise with clients and management.
