Job summary

Burns & McDonnell seeks a Staff Structural Designer to develop detailed drawings and structural plans for steel and concrete facilities. You will perform 2D drafting and 3D modeling, apply engineering standards, and produce design deliverables for diverse project types in a team setting.

The role requires a strong foundation in drafting technology, proficiency with Tekla, AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks, and excellent communication skills to coordinate with engineers and project managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in drafting technology or related field with 7+ years of related experience.
• Alternative: Associate degree with 8+ years of detailed drafting and design experience.
• Advanced understanding of design software and structural design deliverables.
• Ability to work with project managers and engineers in a multi-discipline team.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed construction drawings for steel and reinforced concrete structures.
• Produce a full range of drawing production work including layout, calculations, and problem analysis.
• Execute designs on projects for power generation clients, from modifications to new facilities.
• Perform 2D drafting and 3D modeling, using standard engineering practices.
• Prepare structural calculations and apply design codes and specifications.
• Organize and maintain revisions of drawings and project information.
• Collaborate with project team to resolve drawing issues and meet objectives.
• Complete and review design drawings within scope, budget, and schedule.
