Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Structural Designer in Farmington Hills, MI to join the Advanced Solutions Group. You will lead drafting teams on major projects such as wind tunnels, aerospace test facilities, and launch structures, delivering complete drawing packages that meet schedule and budget constraints.

Ideal candidates have 10–20 years of 2D/3D drafting experience, strong CAD skills with Autocad, Revit, Creo, and related tools, and proven leadership for guiding a team of drafters through complex

Qualifications

• US citizenship is required to comply with government customer requirements and/or applicable government regulations.
• 10 to 20 years of experience in development of 2D drawings and 3D models of structures.
• Two years training from a vocational school or two years college with drafting/engineering courses plus eight years of experience.
• Additional relevant education may substitute a portion of progressive experience.
• Working knowledge of CAE/CAD systems.
• Demonstrated leadership, organization, planning, communication, and problem solving.
• Able to lead a small team of structural designers and drafters.
• Proficient in 2D drawings/3D models using Autocad, Advance Steel, Inventor, Revit, Creo.

Responsibilities

• Develop custom structural designs to satisfy client requirements and coordinate with engineering and management.
• Lead drafting activities and improve drafting processes; mentor junior drafters.
• Communicate effectively with team members and management.
• Design structural systems for wind tunnels, rocket/jet test stands, launch facilities, and aerospace facilities.
• Provide drafting team leadership on major projects and check drawings for accuracy.
• Guide designers, review work in progress, and coordinate with project management.
• Perform creative design from concepts and engineering analyses; verify conformance to specs.
• Prepare sketches for drawing by others; maintain standards and train new staff.
