Job summary

Amentum's Advanced Solutions Group seeks a Senior Machine Design Engineer to lead multi-disciplinary machine design projects. Based at Farmington Hills, MI, you will drive technical excellence, schedules, and budgets across complex R&D facilities for defense, automotive, and aerospace clients.

You will apply GD&T, FEA, and CAD tools, managing a team of engineers and drafters, with 15+ years of progressive machine design experience and a track record of delivering under scope and time constraints.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace from ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum 15 years of progressive machine design experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading engineers and drafters.
• Design for fabrication and assembly.

Responsibilities

• Independently plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of engineering work.
• Analyzes machine design features and applies principles or creates new approaches to solutions.
• Reviews results for completeness and alignment with project objectives.
• Develops and presents technical reports, 3D concepts, and calculations to mgmt and clients.
• Coordinates and reviews work of others for technique and approach.
• Defines interfaces with other disciplines and collaborates with multiple engineering teams.
• Leads design team to deliver complete design packages including drawings and specs.
