Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Structural Designer with extensive experience in developing 2D drawings and 3D models of complex structures. You will lead a drafting team within a multi-project environment, solving design challenges and coordinating with engineering and management to deliver on schedule and budget.

Ideal candidates have 10–20 years in drafting, strong CAD skills (AutoCAD, Advance Steel, Inventor, Revit, Creo), and a proven leadership track.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship is required for government projects.
• 10–20 years of experience in development of 2D drawings and 3D models of structures.
• Two years vocational training or two years college with relevant courses plus a minimum of eight years of experience; higher education may substitute.
• Must have working knowledge of CAE/CAD systems; strong leadership and communication ability.

Responsibilities

• Provides drafting team leadership on major projects of considerable scope/complexity or specialty leadership for design, drafting, and CAD support.
• Performs creative design from general concepts and engineering analysis; liaises with team and management.
• Performs complex drafting assignments from provided computations and sketches; ensures drawing accuracy.
• Evaluates design feasibility and conformance to specs; certifies completeness of final drawing packages.
• Prepares sketches for others to draw; maintains drafting standards; assists in training drafting personnel.
• Operates CAD equipment and trains others in CAD usage.
• Performs other related duties as required.
