Job summary

Amentum seeks a Structural Engineer for its Advanced Solutions Group. Lead structural projects across diverse facilities, guiding a multi-discipline team from concept through construction to ensure design integrity and client satisfaction.

The role involves applying codes, performing FE analysis, and coordinating with clients and disciplines to deliver safe, cost-effective structures on schedule. Opportunities to lead and mentor engineers and drafters exist across US offices.

Qualifications

• US citizenship is required to comply with government customer requirements.
• BS or MS Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related engineering field.
• 5+ years of experience in the design and analysis of structural systems.
• Proficient in finite element modeling (STAAD and/or ANSYS).
• Proficient in building codes such as IBC, AISC, ACI, and ASCE.
• Demonstrated leadership ability and ability to lead a small team.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage other structural engineers and drafters through all phases of project planning, execution, and construction.
• Provide complete design solutions from concept to final design and construction.
• Apply design loading to structures utilizing applicable building codes and design codes.
• Design and analyze structures to meet project specific and code requirements using hand analysis and finite element methods.
• Develop engineering design calculation packages including static, dynamic, blast, vibration, and thermal stresses.
• Oversee development of 3D models and 2D construction drawings by designers/drafters.
• Develop construction bid packages with calculations, specifications, and drawings.
• Perform site inspections to ensure construction to contract documents and review submittals.
