Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a highly experienced Structural Designer to join our Nuclear Power Group in Knoxville. You will develop 3D structural layout drawings, coordinate detailed design phases, and guide junior designers across multi-disciplinary teams involved in plant layout modeling.

The role emphasizes 3D modeling proficiency, extensive experience in steel/concrete design, and collaboration with engineers to deliver integrated structural models.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in drafting or equivalent technical experience with 1+ year drafting coursework
• 10+ years of detailed design experience in structural steel and reinforced concrete drawings
• Proficiency with 3D plant layout modeling software tools
• Experience reviewing structural layout drawings including steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment/piping supports, foundations, rebar detailing
• Ability to interface with engineering and design teams across disciplines

Responsibilities

• Develop structural physical layout drawings in a 3D model
• Design structural supports and foundations; troubleshoot design issues
• Generate structural design schematics using 3D tools
• Lead coordination of detailed design for integrated structural model
• Coordinate with designers and project teams to ensure timely design delivery
• Mentor junior drafters and designers; provide guidance
• Option to accompany senior designers on field walkdowns and data gathering
