Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Michigan seeks an experienced Structural Designer for an onsite role with a four‑day week (10 hours/day) and per diem eligibility for qualified candidates. You will develop 3D plant layout drawings, lead structural design activities, and coordinate across disciplines within a nuclear power‑oriented team.

Essential duties include mentoring junior staff, solving complex design issues, and delivering complete design models for client facilities in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent plus drafting coursework/experience.
• 10+ years of detailed structural design experience (steel and reinforced concrete).
• Proficiency with 3D plant layout modeling tools.
• Experience reviewing structural layouts (steel frames, connections, concrete members, foundations).
• Ability to interface with engineers from other disciplines on power plant design.

Responsibilities

• Develop 3D structural layout drawings for plant projects.
• Lead detailed design phases for all aspects of an integrated model.
• Coordinate and guide other designers ensuring complete and timely deliverables.
• Mentor less experienced drafters and designers; provide field data gathering support when needed.
