Job summary

Sargent & Lundy currently seeks an experienced structural designer to join its Nuclear Power Group in Knoxville. The role focuses on developing 3-D structural layout drawings, coordinating detailed design phases, and mentoring junior staff.

Applicants should bring 10+ years of detailed structural design experience, proficiency in 3D plant layout tools, and the ability to interface with multidisciplinary teams in a power plant context. Hybrid work with in-office days is required.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or 1+ year drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.
• 10+ years of detailed design experience in structural steel and reinforced concrete drawings.
• Proficiency with 3D plant layout models.

Responsibilities

• Work with multi-disciplined engineering teams to develop structural layout drawings in 3-D.
• Design structural supports, foundations, and investigate/solve design issues.
• Use 3D modeling software to generate structural schematics.
• Lead coordination of detailed design phases for integrated structural models.
• Coordinate and guide other designers to ensure timely design delivery.
• Plan and execute structural design deliverables both independently and as part of a team.
• Possibly accompany senior staff for field walkdowns and data gathering.
• Mentor less experienced drafters and designers.
