Job summary

VHB is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer/Project Manager to lead planning, analysis, design, and detailing of major bridge and transportation projects. The role includes mentoring staff and coordinating with owners, architects, and contractors to deliver high-quality, sustainable solutions.

The position offers a hybrid work model and opportunities to influence project delivery from concept to construction while advancing your leadership and technical skills within VHB's Structures practice.

Qualifications

11+ years of experience in structural engineering for bridges and transportation projects.
BS in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis; master’s can substitute for 1–2 years experience.
PE license is required; experience with DOT standards a must.
Experience completing transportation studies and final design documents per AASHTO & MassDOT.

Responsibilities

Lead planning, analysis, design and detailing for major bridge and transportation projects.
Develop proposals, contracts, and manage technical approaches, costs, and schedules.
Maintain client relationships, visibility, and business development responsibilities.
Mentor technical staff and oversee design plans, calculations, load ratings, and reports.
Manage projects and ensure scope, schedule, cost, and quality targets are met.
Review plans and analyses to ensure compliance with standards.
