Job summary

Ambry Genetics is seeking a Structural Biologist III to collaborate across biology, bioinformatics, software engineering, and clinical teams to design tools and methodologies that leverage biomolecular structural data to guide clinical decisions.

You will lead a structural biology team, develop models and workflows, mentor staff, and coordinate cross‑functional projects from concept to production, ensuring rigorous SDLC standards and high‑quality documentation.

Qualifications

• PhD in computational biology, structural biology, biophysics, bioinformatics, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of R&D experience in computational structural biology with at least 2 years post‑doc or in industry and 2 years of management experience.
• Fluency with scripting languages (Python, R, Perl, C/C++, Java, SQL) and modeling software; strong background in molecular dynamics and experimental techniques (X-ray, Cryo-EM).

Responsibilities

• Provide structural biology support for variant analyses through structure-function interpretation.
• Develop methods, protocols, and tools for structural modeling, MD, and clinical variant assessment on internal platforms.
• Partner with statisticians and data scientists to validate algorithms and data workflows.
• Coordinate cross-functional efforts across Bioinformatics, R&D and reporting teams for clinical projects.
• Write testable, production-grade code adhering to SDLC and code-review best practices.
• Maintain technical docs, SOPs, and knowledge bases; mentor junior staff.
• Direct and lead the structural team to ensure timely project completion.
• Inform leadership about project progress and blockers.
