Job summary
Amgen in South San Francisco is seeking a Scientist/Senior Scientist in Structural Biology to advance cryo-EM and integrative structure-based drug discovery across therapeutic areas, enabling therapeutic program decisions.
This role blends hands-on experimentation with technology development, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-impact insights, publish findings, and help build scalable workflows that improve throughput and data quality.
Qualifications
- Doctorate in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or related field.
- Alternatives include PharmD or MD with relevant post-doc experience.
- Master’s degree with 3 years of Structural Biology experience or Bachelor’s with 5 years.
Responsibilities
- Define structural biology strategies and experimental plans with discovery teams.
- Perform cryo-EM sample prep, data collection, and model building.
- Deliver high-quality structural insights to inform design decisions.
- Develop scalable CryoEM workflows to improve throughput.
- Collaborate across Structural Biology, Protein Sciences, Therapeutic Discovery, and Computational Biology teams.
- Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to improve data collection and analysis.
