Senior Structural Analyst – Spaceflight FEA & Design

Job summary

Blue Origin seeks an experienced Structural Analyst to perform hand calculations and FE analyses of primary and secondary aerospace structures for the New Glenn program. You will document stress analyses and support release of drawings, while building models and conducting trade studies.

You will mentor junior staff, improve automation for model generation and reporting, and apply fatigue and fracture analysis in an aerospace context. Relocation to WA, FL, or CO is expected.

Qualifications

• B.S. in engineering and 3+ years related experience.
• Proficiency with Nastran, Optistruct, Ansys, or Abaqus.
• High proficiency with FEMAP, Abaqus CAE or Hypermesh.
• Extensive understanding of FEM modeling techniques (BCs, bolts, contact, verification).
• Structural analysis using hand calculations and FE methods with standard software.
• Experience with development and/or qualification testing.
• Knowledge of aerospace/launch vehicle structural requirements.
• Experience with Fatigue and Fracture Analysis.
• Ability to relocate to WA, FL, or CO.

Responsibilities

• Detailed hand Calc and FE analysis of primary and secondary aerospace structures.
• Documentation of stress analysis to support release of engineering drawings/documents.
• Making predictions, implementing test campaigns, and creating reports in support of hardware qualifications.
• Build system and detail level models supporting structural design.
• Supporting other teams and team members with inputs for configuration development and trade studies.
• Mentoring and analysis checks for designers and junior structural analysts in stress/stability/fracture analysis and standard processes.
• Improving enterprise analysis capabilities such as crafting process automation tools for model creation, optimization, strength checks, and analysis report generation.
