Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced structural analyst to perform hand calculations and FEM analyses on aerospace structures for New Glenn. You will drive discrepancy resolution, document stress analyses, and mentor junior analysts to ensure safe, weight-optimized designs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a B.S. degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience within aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures.
• Complete hand calculations including free-body diagrams for load derivation.
• Knowledge of engineering materials and their applications to optimize structures.
• Proficiency with classic and aerospace analysis methods (Bruhn, Niu, Roark, etc.).
• At least two of the analysis codes listed (Ansys, Nastran, Optistruct, LS‑Dyna, Abaqus).
• Strong communication and collaboration across diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Detailed hand calc and FEM analysis of primary and secondary aerospace structures.
• Drive hardware discrepancies to resolution and disposition nonconformances.
• Document stress analysis to support release of drawings/documents.
• Provide design guidance balancing risk, cost, and performance.
• Support subsystem test planning, data reduction, and analysis.
• Mentor junior structural analysts and cross‑organize with production.
• Improve enterprise analysis through automation tools for model creation.
