Job summary

United Launch Alliance in Centennial, Colorado seeks a Strength Analyst to help shape future launch vehicles by performing structural analyses for Vulcan-Centaur and other systems. You will analyze strength, fatigue and fracture, review layouts, and document results while coordinating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of experience required; relocation may be considered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related work experience.
  • Experience with structural analysis and relevant tools.

Responsibilities

  • Performing strength, fatigue and fracture analysis of structural components, including non-linear analysis.
  • Create analysis models, perform hand calculations and have an understanding of analysis best practices to provide strength inputs and recommendations for new design concepts.
  • Review and approve 3-D layouts, 3-D models, designs / drawings and 2-D drawing changes for propulsion, fluid system and mechanical system components.
  • Make engineering design recommendations with consideration of thermal, mechanical and pressure loading using appropriate material properties, configurations, safety factors, etc.
  • Document analysis results in strength reports.
  • Support internal peer reviews, table top reviews and formal design reviews as needed.
  • Support fast paced design/analysis cycles and be able to evaluate hardware non-conformances to support production activities.
  • Work independently and coordinate efforts across functional and product teams.
